Health Insurance

National Health Insurance (NHI)

You must meet ALL conditions below to enroll	You CANNOT enroll if
your Period of Stay is more than three (3) months your registered residence (juminhyo) is in Oita City you are not enrolled in Social Insurance (Shakai Hoken)	your Residence Status (visa) is for medical purposes

Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI)

• Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI) provides coverage for nursing care needs due to aging or illness.

Persons ages 40 to 64 years old who are enrolled in health insurance	LTCI and health insurance premiums are paid together.
Persons aged 65 or older	LTCI premiums are deducted from your pension benefits.

Pension

• Individuals who are enrolled in the pension system receive benefits when they retire, become ill, or develop a disability, and their families are eligible for benefits in the event of their death.
• All people living in Japan ages 20 to 59 years old must enroll in the National Pension System. 
  Employed individuals are enrolled in the Employees' Pension Insurance (EPI).
• If you are facing financial hardship that makes it difficult to pay your pension contributions, please consult the National Pension Office at the city hall.
