Renewal of Residence Card, Changing Status of Residence, and Re-entry Procedures

1. Moving to Japan from abroad

Submit Moving-in Notification (tennyu todoke)

When Within 14 days of moving into Oita City
Where

Oita City Hall (Civic Affairs Division), Municipal Branch Office, or Municipal Satellite Office 

Note: Cannot be processed at Imaichi Municipal Satellite Office
What to bring
  • Residence Card (zairyu card) or Special Permanent Resident Certificate 
  • If your residence card was not issued to you at the port of entry, please bring your passport with you.
    Please show the following pages at the counter, including the page stating that your residence card will be mailed to you.

2. Moving from other city to Oita City

Submit Moving-in Notification (tennyu todoke)

When Within 14 days of moving into Oita City
Where

Oita City Hall (Civic Affairs Division), Municipal Branch Office, or Municipal Satellite Office 

Note: Cannot be processed at Imaichi Municipal Satellite Office
What to bring
  1. My Number Card or Change of Address Certificate issued by your previous municipality
  2. Valid ID
       ■ Residence card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate
       ■ My Number Card 
Fee None

3. Moving within Oita City

Submit Change of Address Notification (tenkyo todoke)

When Within 14 days of moving into your new residence
Where

Oita City Hall (Civic Affairs Division), Municipal Branch Office, or Municipal Satellite Office 

Note: Cannot be processed at Imaichi Municipal Satellite Office
What to bring
  1. Valid ID
       ■ Residence card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate
       ■ My Number Card 
  2. Health Insurance Card or Proof of Health Insurance Coverage (If you have one)
  3. Long-term Care Insurance Card (If you have one)

4. Moving from Oita City to another city or abroad

Submit Moving-out Notification (tenshutsu todoke)

        ■ My Number Card

  4. Child Medical Expenses Assistance Card (If you have one)
Fee None
For those who have already moved out
without submitting a Moving-out Notification		 Complete the procedure via postal mail or online
